CHILD PROTECTION

Splash Swim School comply with the ASA Child Protection Policy and Procedures.  National Standards have been developed by the NSPCC that aim to promote best practice so that a safe environment for children and young children is achieved.

MOBILE PHONES / PHOTOGRAPHY

Due to the Child Protection Act, we cannot and do not allow any filming in, or around, the swimming pool. If anyone is found to be taking pictures or filming we will ask for them to stop immediately and may ask for the photos/film to be destroyed.  Mobile phones should not be used whilst lessons are in progress due to the prevalence of camera phones.

SWIMWEAR

GUIDANCE AND INFORMATION ON SWIMMING COSTUMES / HATS / GOGGLES

SWIM HATS

The information to follow is applicable to both boys and girls.

Wearing a swim hat is advised, not only for reasons of safety, but also in relation to skill learning as the hair will inevitably interfere with vision and the flow of water across the eyes and face, causing erratic and inefficient head and body movements to be made.

All girls, and boys with long hair are required to wear a swim hat.


GOGGLES

Choose a pair for your child that fit comfortably, yet are fairly tight so as to be leak proof.

If possible all children should have their own pair of goggles, as we have a limited number of pairs that can be borrowed.

Goggles should be used as guided / instructed by the teacher, and may not necessarily be worn for the whole lesson. 

Please ensure your child takes care when removing goggles by slipping them up off the head and not stretching away from the eyes.
 
SWIMWEAR

Please - no bikinis or baggy swim shorts.

The child's swimsuit should be comfortably tight fitting so as to allow full freedom of limb and body movement and not cause any form of drag or water resistance.  In particular, baggy shorts can cause an enormous amount of drag resistance and in certain circumstances are unsafe.
